Quote

"The moment you take responsibility for everything in your life is the moment you can change anything in your life." - Hal Elrod

Intro

Sometimes, when you intend to hold yourself accountable, it doesn’t mean wanting to hold yourself accountable, but knowing why you want to keep yourself accountable. For me, when I get up at 6 am to go to the gym, I don’t do it because I want to, but I have my own personal goals and long to meet them.

Definition

Definition: (of a person, organization, or institution) required or expected to justify actions or decisions; responsible.

Example

You love watching TV. That’s all that’s on your mind throughout the whole day. When you are watching TV, you also enjoy snacking on your favorite foods. While we need rest, certain types of rest can negatively affect our health. While sitting and snacking while watching TV, you challenge yourself to do 20 pushups or 50 jumping jacks every commercial/ad break.

Benefits

What I enjoy about holding yourself accountable is that it improves yourself and it improves others. You teach yourself to be disciplined, to push yourself to your goals, and it helps you identify and solve problems. It also shows others that you can be trusted with what you say. If you others see that you stay true to your word, they will find more trust in you.

Change

Notice aspects or habits in your life that you could easily change/improve with a slight change. Work on holding yourself accountable for that, and if you need, have someone else help you stay accountable. Notice over time how you impact yourself positively when you make small improvements.
